stdio clients (nexara mcp-proxy)

Some MCP clients only launch local stdio servers and cannot talk to a remote HTTP server. nexara mcp-proxy is a stdio MCP server that forwards every JSON-RPC message unchanged to the remote /mcp (or /w/<workspace>/mcp) with your agent key.

Install the CLI

The nexara CLI (package nexara-cli, folder cli/) is not published to npm yet. Build it from the repository; it is a single file with no runtime dependencies and needs Node 22:

login saves the URL and key to ~/.config/nexara/config.json (mode 0600). NEXARA_URL and NEXARA_KEY in the environment override it.

Leave out env if you ran nexara login. Add "--workspace", "<slug>" to args to pin /w/<slug>/mcp. Codex can use it too: codex mcp add nexara -- nexara mcp-proxy.

The proxy writes diagnostics only to stderr (stdout carries the protocol). If the key is rejected it answers with JSON-RPC error -32001; if the server is unreachable, -32000. The client never hangs.

whoami, bundle, search, get, tree, propose, log, capture, inbox, doctor. See cli/README.md for flags and exit codes. Not yet: browser OAuth login, keychain storage, write, archive, sync.
